What this site is
A small set of written notes about plumbing in and around Burton-on-Trent. We started it because the same questions kept coming up, and the answers were usually clearer than people expected once you laid them out properly.
What we cover
Two kinds of thing, really. The jobs themselves, and the places they happen in.
- Replacing a gas boiler, and how unvented cylinders give you hot water on demand
- Central heating that warms every room rather than just the ones nearest the boiler
- Blocked drains, sluggish waste pipes and hidden leaks
- Fitting a new bathroom, start to finish
- Town-by-town notes — Swadlincote, Uttoxeter, Lichfield, Tamworth, Ashby and the Trentside villages
How it's written
Plainly, and from the point of view of someone who has done the work. We lead with the answer, then explain the reasoning underneath, because that's the order people actually want it in.
We don't pad articles to hit a word count, and we'd rather say "it depends, and here's what it depends on" than pretend every house is the same.
Who it's for
